The Coralith
Project Overview
The Coralith, developed by Adelin Johari and Darius Chen in Option Studio 2 [Prototypes and Other Monsters], explores the intersection of form and function through research-by-design coastal solutions. Envisioned as a sustainable future for Singapore's remaining kelongs, the Coralith revitalizes these traditional fish farms with a self-sustaining biorock core that encourages coral growth. Integrated aquaculture and wave energy systems support local food and renewable energy production, while recreational features—such as tidal pools and diving areas—promote both social and environmental sustainability.
